VW Golf Battery: average time until it will be running flat when stand light is not swiched off?

Hi everyone!
I've got a question concerning the battery of a VW Golf (rather a cheap model, but fairly new (2004/05)). What's the average time one can let the stand light switched on until the battery runs flat? The car is not used daily.
It would be important to know where you've got your informations form (sources, etc).
Additionally, can one not assume that a newer model (even if "cheap") would make some sort of noise if one forgets to switch off the lights?

Many cars will not let you do this and automatically switch off battery drains after 10 minutes. If your Volkswagen's does not turn off you have to be aware that small drains are the hardest on the lead acid battery's. Battery's are rated at the maximum cold cranking amps like 500 cca but a one amp draw like parking lamps drain will kill the battery in as few as 10 hours. Don't slow drain the battery the plates inside the battery become coated with sulfur and the battery will short out and become unchangeable.
